EU clean mobility push needs low-carbon fuels to succeed, study finds

09.07.2018

The EU’s Clean Mobility Package aims to reduce road transport emissions over the long term, but it is not taking full advantage of an important decarbonization tool we can use right now: renewable ethanol. By picking only one winner in the race to decarbonize transport ― encouraging the uptake of (battery) electric vehicles in the coming decades ― the European Commission is not fully recognizing the contribution that sustainable low-carbon liquid fuels, such as renewable ethanol, are already making in the effort to reduce emissions.
