How the EU Green Deal can unleash Europe’s bioeconomy

The ambitious EU Green Deal strategy to drastically reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the EU and achieve climate neutrality by 2050 represents both an opportunity and a challenge for the bioeconomy sectors, including biofuels.

If the EU intends to continue leading the green transition, it should be even more committed to unlocking the potential of the bioeconomy and implementing the Bioeconomy Strategy Action Plan.

Achieving carbon neutrality requires strong accompanying measures at both EU and national level, for example to secure renewable energy supplies of sufficient quantity and enable scale-up of innovative solutions in the bioeconomy.

ePURE joins the other members of the European Bioeoconomy Alliance (EUBA), in calling for the bioeconomy to play a pivotal role in the transition to a more circular, sustainable and resource-efficient society.
