Spain – 2017 fuel ethanol use increases

Fuel ethanol demand increased in April 2017, supported by a rising petrol use and a higher blending share.

Fuel market agency Cores reported that the blending share of fuel ethanol into petrol was an average 5.23% in April, against 5.18% in March and 5.17% last year. There was a +3.6% increase in petrol demand to 397,860 tonnes, while fuel ethanol use increased 4.8% to around 26.3 mln litres.

The overall biofuels quota in 2017 rose from 4.3% to 5.0% and the minimum target for fuel ethanol in petrol remained at 3.9%.
