The case for renewable ethanol as a domestic solution for Europe’s transport decarbonisation

As the EU's revised CO2 standards for cars and vans will decide which technologies power Europe's transport transition, policymakers and industry meeting in Strasbourg broadly agreed renewable fuels like ethanol deserve a bigger role.

European renewable-energy producers and EU policymakers gathered in Strasbourg at the invitation of ePURE, the organisation promoting the beneficial uses of renewable ethanol throughout Europe, in partnership with The Parliament, to explore how the upcoming revision of the bloc’s CO2 emission standards for cars and vans will help deliver on the decarbonisation ambition while offering a diverse range of solutions.
