The way forward for the EU ethanol industry

The new issue of Biofuels International magazine includes an interview with ePURE Secretary-General Emmanuel Desplechin on the impact of COVID-19 on the European ethanol industry. “The lesson from this, surely, is that all countries must realise how important it is to be self-sufficient in the production of essential items such as food, animal feed and energy,” Desplechin said. “This fact is certainly clearer now that it was before COVID-19 arrived. The message for our own sector from this is that we need to maintain a solid network of European biorefineries going forward, having seen the way in which the different supply chains, across many key industries, have already been impacted by this crisis.”
